CAP GAZETTE: “Pickleball tournament supports Warrior Community Connect”

The Peninsula on Indian River Bay recently hosted a pickleball tournament in celebration and support of the veterans support group Warrior Community Connect.

The event was sponsored by Selkirk, Val Ellenberger of Compass Realty and the Lewes-Rehoboth Rotary Club. Special thanks go to Sean Donovan, Peninsula’s athletic director, and David Kempster, Peninsula’s racquet professional.

Veterans and families in attendance included Silvia Lopez Pabon, Alex Pabon, Paula Pabon, Lisandro Mateo Ortiz, Melania Mateo Ortiz, Sean Triplet, Michele Triplet and Andrew Triplet.

Warrior Community Connect is a Delaware-based nonprofit organization established in 2020 with the mission to engage wounded, ill or injured veterans and their families in health and wellness activity-based programs that enable healing and resiliency through a community of peers and trusted resources. Upcoming events include golf, cooking, paddleboarding, fly fishing and more.
